Just over three months ago I became a mum for the first time… and it has been crazy bizarro-world kinda fun that I think is worth sharing. Every few days I send emails to family with quirky facts and developments in the life of my little Ziggy and it was suggested to me that these would make a good blog, so here we go… I will also be throwing in random facts, recipes (cause food is awesome), music musings and more random insights into my brain… enjoy!
It has been brought to my attention that the random mind-bending collection of thoughts that lead to my blog title ‘The Goat Note’ may not be immediately apparent to the casual observer. So why call a blog that is largely focused on my Zig man ‘The Goat Note’?
When I was about 5 months pregnant Zig’s Dad and I went on a wee holiday in northern NSW. Around this time I had become rather obsessed with goats, mostly due to the incredible discovery that they have square eyes (pupils)… a fact that Zig’s Dad pointed out to me but I didn’t believe until I saw photo evidence. After that I was fascinated and upon seeing an ad for a nearby bee farm that also had goats and alpacas that you could pat I asserted that we must, must visit! Incredibly, the day prior to the planned bee farm visit we took a wrong turn while looking for a lake and came across a very friendly goat grazing casually in the front yard of a house. It seemed like fate and he was a very cool goat. The next day we visited the bee farm and got to pat some of the cutest baby goats ever, all of whom mistook my colourful dress for food and kept trying to nibble on me, it was awesome.
So with my love of goats firmly established and my love of music going back to around the time of my first breath it seemed logical that if I was ever to have a blog it would be called ‘The Goat Note’, this decision was of course made before Ziggy but its esoteric appeal has not waned for me… Does that clear things up?
