Ziggy

Ziggy turns 3 months old

Posted on Updated on

The wonderfully gorgeous Zigmaster General turned 3 months old on Monday and we had a lovely day as Daddy took the day off and we went for breakfast and a then a lovely walk with the puppies later in the afternoon.
The Zig is a very happy little guy most of the time and still sleeping well at night, but he has a very distinct cranky period from around 4pm – 7pm but we have been coming up with creative ways to entertain and distract him and feeding often seems to help.
Speaking of feeding we popped into the chemist and weighed our little behemoth and he clocked in at a whopping 6.94 kilos! He has also stopped being cranky during feeding most of the time, he still has his moments from time to time but Mum has gotten much better at distracting him and calming him down before things can escalate, and obviously he is getting enough food in the end, which is all that matters.

In fantastic news the world’s best NZ grandparents have organised for us all to visit New Zealand in early November. We told Ziggy and he is beside himself with excitement and can’t wait to ‘agoo’ and woo all of his NZ family.

Ziggy sleeps in the big boy cot

Posted on Updated on

Saturday was a very momentous day in the life of our favourite 12 week old, he transitioned from his cosy little bassinet to his big boy cot. He was a bit grizzly during his first nap in it, but by the time he was ready for his big sleep he thought it was pretty awesome as he could kick his legs and stretch out his arms as much as he liked. He has so far slept really well in it the past two nights, fingers crossed he keeps enjoying it.

Ziggy’s hand in the mouth trick

Posted on Updated on

The lovely Zig man has discovered his hands and thinks they are pretty fascinating, they spend copious amounts of time being stared at or sucked on.

Ziggy had an up and down week, he had his first period of I-have-no-idea-why-you’re-crying on Monday but soon snapped out of it when we got home and was a lovely happy chappy, so I think he was overstimulated. The rest of the week the Z man has been pretty fun and easy going, although it did take me almost 3 hours to eat my lunch while out at a cafe yesterday as he was very determined that he was going to be cuddled by Mummy and ONLY mummy.

Ziggy-licious is a little star struck

We had a wee break in our incessant Ziggy updates as we had Grandparents extraordinaire, Helen and Peter, over for a week and it was fab family and food filled good times.
Today is my first day without someone around to hand baby off to when I need to… so far so good, we are about to go for a walk and grab a coffee. Ziggy wanted to get dolled up for the occasion so i put a new onesie on him (given to him by my Fuzzy work mates) and his snazzy blue pants that he hadn’t worn yet and his monkey socks that Grandma Helen gave him. He was looking so cute after I dressed him that I had to take a photo.

Ziggy is much more awake and alert the last few days and seems delighted and interested in everything he sees, particularly light (both natural and artificial) and he has started to smile and it is sooooooooooo cute!

Ziggy rides the bus

Posted on Updated on

Ziggy and I and his Nana braved the Sydney public transport system yesterday and hopped the bus to Newtown. The experiment was largely a success but we discovered two things:
1.  ‘Accessible’ buses are rendered fairly useless when the super helpful driver (chokes on own sarcasm) pulls up an abyss-sized distance from the curb
2.  Strangers are not inclined to offer to help someone with a pram in any way, I mean you could have no arms and they still wouldn’t help!
Without mum’s help it would have been a very challenging journey. Looking forward to being allowed to drive again.
Ziggy was super restless from about 4pm-11pm last night, but then finally settled and slept through with one feed in the middle, so not too bad.
This morning I changed Z into a super cute outfit given to him but his Uncle Ch and Auntie Mei, – thanks guys!

5 days and counting till Grandma and Grandpa arrive, I have been telling him everyday that they’re coming and he totally gets it 🙂

The Ziccups

Posted on Updated on

Ziggy and I are both very excited today as the first ashes test starts this evening, i have dressed him in the closest thing i have to cricket whites 🙂 – white pants with enclosed feet and a blue and white top that says ‘bear hugs’ given to him by his great auntie Jan.

In other adventures; there are not too many momentous life events when you are only 2.5 weeks old but Z does tend to get the hiccups at least once a day and it is super cute so i took a video.

Other breaking Z-man news includes his first outing in the baby carrier, which he loved and fell asleep in approx 10 seconds.

Ziggy hearts New York

Posted on Updated on

Zig had a good day, we went to visit my good friend Chumpy so we decked him out in the I heart New York onsie Chumpy brought back for him from the States. We also popped a hoodie on him for the first time so he was looking very urban chic.

Gareth went out to bday drinks for a friend tonight and while he was gone Zig fell asleep after his feed with his fists clenched next to his face in the sweetest way. Can i get an ‘awwwww’?
